CID REFLECTION(DEC HOLIDAY)
During the December holidays , I did not go for any overseas trip and mainly stayed at home throughout the holidays . However , it was a rather fulfilling holiday as I have learnt a lot of new things and gained lots of insight through facilitator trainings and the leadership training camp that I attended during the holidays.
Even though it was just a mere 2D1N camp and only four trainings during this whole holidays , I have learnt so many new things that I feel not all people would had a chance to experience in their lives and felt very privileged.
The camp and trainings were specially organized for us the facilitators for Year One Orientation 2015 to train us to become a good facilitator and prepare us for orientation . Initially we already had a facilitator whatsapp group and we got to know more about each other via whatsapp but we were all still feeling very nervous despite the fact that we chatted online as we nevertheless have never seen each other before . All of us wondered how would it feel to meet each other .
On the camp itself , it was the very first time we met each other and surprisingly all of us clicked pretty well , there wasn't any awkwardness that we were afraid of at all! Besides getting to know each other during those few days , we also grown as a person and gained a lot more from these trainings . During the first day of camp , we started off quite early and I clearly remember that all of us were feeling so sleepy that when our seniors started cheering nobody replied with any hint of enthusiasm . As facilitators , all of us knew that wasn't the right thing to do because as a facilitator we are supposed to be the most enthusiastic bunch of people who the year ones are first going to know . However , we are so tired and didn't try to cheer as loud as our seniors . Besides that , a lot of our flaws were being pointed out to us during the camp . For example , we do not have awareness and initiative and did not behave like leaders which we were supposed to be . We took our own sweet time to complete things that were tasked to us and also having zero sense of urgency when traveling from place to place .
These flaws were constantly being pointed out to us even during the trainings that we had , there was no response from us during briefings , acting like year ones but not facilitators etc. And of course the trainings was not easy at all , one training will mean one whole day at school consisting of cheering , dancing , dry runs and many more . Besides those things that we do during trainings , scoldings were also considered as a major part during the first few trainings . Being scolded for the things that we feel that we had tried our best didn't feel good at all and surely at some point , we felt that the scoldings were unreasonable and we did not deserve to be scolded .
However , we saw the hard work that our OCs, family heads have put in for us and the stress that they had just only from trying to train us and we felt guilty about it . Despite the fact that we think the scoldings were pretty unreasonable , we did put in more effort and behaved more like a facilitator for the later trainings . We tried our best even when we are exhausted because we all know that all of us are doing this together , we did our best because we wanted to do because of what we came here for , our juniors , we did our best because we constantly reminded ourselves that we shouldn't give up because this is what we signed up for and this is what we wanted to become , as facilitators.
At the end of the day , as a team we become good friends that we never thought we would become and the hardship , the sweat , the tears , the memories that we have created and went through together will never ever be forgotten because we are one big family and together as a team we worked together throughout this year's orientation making it a success ! Even though orientation is over , the bond that we have created can never be cut off . This journey was never easy but yet I met so many good friends and did things that I would never thought I could do , this holiday was indeed the most memorable one.
